ProjectID:
CAREIN
Description:
CarEIn project is a Leonado da Vinci Transfer of Innovation project approved in 2009 through the European Commission (DG Education and Culture) Lifelong Learning Programme. It runs since October 2009 until September 2011.
CarEIn project basing on previously approved TREIN LdV project, aims at elaborating a learning environment based on Web 2.0 which will help health and care assistance workers to acquire competences on EI in order to improve the quality of their daily activities and, as a consequence, to improve the quality of life of health and care sector beneficiaries.
The target groups of Carein project are social care professionals (social assistants, psycologists, occupational therapists, carers, etc.), health and medical care professionales (doctors, nurses, physioterapists, etc.), working in Social Care centres such as rehabilitation centres, day care centres or social institutions.
The final beneficiaries are all those groups suffering a progressive loss of their physical functionalities, and therefore needing social care in addition to the medical treatment. It would include, for instance, people suffering degenerative illness affecting their functional abilities or elder people.

FIRST MATERIAL TITLE:
Analysis of the specific needs of the assistants in the healthcare sare sector
Abstract:
THe objective of this product is the analysis of the situation in each partner country with regards to health and care sector with a specific focus on the specific needs of the workers. It’s fundamental to grant the final outcome’s high quality, to adapt it to the specific situations of the partners’ Countries. The results were used to create a final product suited to the single territorial needs.
For the analysis of specific needs of workers in health and care sector, we developed a four steps methodology:
1. Definition of the guidelines and methodology for the analysis
2. Research (databases, interviews, Internet)
3. Elaboration of National Reports regarding the results
4. Elaboration on the needs of workers in health and care sectors
The target was, beside the training need’s analysis in the EI area, to create and analyze a comprehensive frame of the various situations in the different involved Countries. Not only with regard to the emerged needs, but also to the knowledge of the EI-related subjects and to Web 2.0 tools use (even informal) in the training sector. The knowledge of the workers’ training needs and, with it, of their operative sectors helps in developing a training project that is coherent with the needs and the expectations and moreover that isn’t separated from the reference context.

SECOND MATERIAL TITLE:
Guide of Good Practices on the Promotion of EI in the healthcare sector
Abstract:
Having identified the needs, it was important to determine whether good practices were or not already available for the workers of the Health and Care Services Sector. The good practices report aims at providing information regarding the situations of the Health and Social Care Services Sector within the partner countries participating in CarEIn project, namely Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Poland and United Kingdom, and to provide a list of at least 10 good practices by country. In order to better understand the situation of the sector. The different types of good practices available in each participating country will be different, and they will need to be addressed within the actual situation of this working sector.
A research on the training available on Emotional Intelligence has been carried out by each of the participating countries to determine if the existing needs are or not covered. Moreover, in order to obtain valuable information different interviews were carried out in each country. The profiles of the interviewees were agreed by the members of the consortium for obtaining homogeneous information. A questionnaire was also developed in order for all the partners to obtain the same type of information. The overview, the results of the interviews, as well as the lists of good practices are available within this good practices report.

THIRD MATERIAL TITLE:
Web 2.0 learning environment- EI in the healthcare sector
Abstract:
The CarEIn project aims at elaborating a learning environment based on Web 2.0, which will help health and care assistance workers to acquire competences in emotional intelligence (EI) in order to improve the quality of life of health and care sector beneficiaries. By this project we also want to raise awareness of the importance of applying emotional intelligence in the health and care sector. One of the characteristics of the health and care sector is the continuous exchange of emotions, both from the user and from the worker providing the services.
So, in order to ensure an optimum performance of the specific tasks in the health and care sector it is highly important that the workers are aware of their own emotions as technical knowledge, material resources and improved technologies are not useful enough if the influence of the emotions involved in the health and care sector relationship are not being taken into consideration. Within this context, the CarEIn project aims at elaborating a Web 2.0 learning environment for the promotion and development of Emotional Intelligence competences among health and care assistance workers in order to contribute to a qualitative improvement of their daily activities.
