The ECLAS project is focused on the research approach and the production of tools and good practices for:
- The evaluation, recognition and validation of professional assets of the mental disabled people working in the different structures of le Centre de la Gabrielle
- The evaluation of collective professional assets of the system of actors dealing with the mental disability field
- The design and experimentation of tools of positioning and orientation
- The definition and development of the notion of peer-counselling
Accordingly, project ECLAS is structured around five axes:
- Axis Validation of the Assets of Experiment: develop the necessary tools for the access to the VAE
- Axis of collective competences: seek the existence of collective competences, result of the co-operation between all the actors working in the field of the handicap
- Axis of parental competences: the impact of the home environment analyzes on the construction of capacities of the group-target
- Axis pairemulation: the concept of pairemulation defines and tests the pairemulation between the people in situation of mental handicap
- Transnational Axis: compare the policies of the handicap in the countries partners with the project (the United Kingdom and Netherlands) and analyzes experience sharing within this partnership.

Le projet ECLAS vise à :
- Produire une démarche coordonnée d’innovation et de promotion de bonnes pratiques afin de valoriser l’insertion professionnelle des personnes en situation de handicap mental,
- Contribuer au développement et à la validation des compétences individuelles des jeunes et des adultes en situation de handicap mental
- Evaluer et valoriser les compétences collectives des acteurs engagés dans l’accompagnement de ce public en difficulté.
Dans cette optique, le projet ECLAS est structuré autour de cinq axes :
- Axe Validation des Acquis d’Expérience : développe les outils nécessaires pour l’accès à la VAE
- Axe des compétences collectives : recherche l’existence de compétences collectives, résultat de la coopération entre tous les acteurs oeuvrant dans le domaine du handicap
- Axe des compétences parentales : analyse l’impact de l’environnement familial sur la construction de capacités du groupe-cible
- Axe pairémulation : définit la notion de pairémulation et teste la pairémulation entre les personnes en situation de handicap mental
- Axe transnational : compare les politiques du handicap dans les pays partenaires au projet (Royaume-Uni et Pays-Bas) et analyse les échanges d’expérience au sein de ce partenariat.

This confrence was organised by the Collège Coopératif de Paris and the CREAI Pays de la Loire. It took place in Nantes, the 23 May 2008. The subject was peer-counselling and it gave the opportunity to teachers, experts, people with disability, to speak about what is peer-counselling, according to them.

What factors have been supporting during your work in the project:
The ECLAS project was oriented to the recognition of competences of people with disabilty but also of their parents and the professionnal/carers. This project has been an opportunity to develop ways to recognize formal and unformal competences. The work on the valorisation of professional assets, through the VAE (Validation des Acquis de l'Expérience) has been a real success in terme of quality and quantity. Le Centre de la Gabrielle has launched a new project, called "Cap Vae", that aims at helping workers with mental and learning disabilites to access state-recognised certifications/diploma. This project tends to extend good practices in the field of qualification to new organisations based in the region Île-de-France.
